How to join the babble lovestream

The babble lovestream is happening on Saturday 5th December, from 8pm - 1:30am GMT.

The main way to tune in will be via Twitch (see option 1 below).

If you have decent broadband, we'd love you to join our Zoom call too, so you can connect with everyone else. To hear the music you will still need to listen on Twitch; two devices (one for Zoom, one for Twitch) recommended (see option 2 below).

1. Listen and Watch (Easiest option)

Watch and listen on a mobile with the Twitch App (download app here), or via twitch.tv on a computer.

Hook up your phone / laptop / tablet to your stereo or headphones

Use the chat box to babble away to all the other lovestreamers, swap cocktail recipes etc

To join in the chat, you will need to create a Twitch account. If you are using the mobile app you will create an account as part of the installation process.

It's a good idea to install the Twitch app / create an account well before the stream - it only takes a few minutes but easier if you're not rushing!

This is the link to the babblesoundsystem Twitch channel which you can also find on the the lovestream home page.

2. Listen, Watch, Chat and Dance

Listen and Watch on Twitch as above...

...and join the Zoom call (Zoom 5.3 or higher required Update instructions)

NOTES:

How this works:

2.1. Set up Your Devices

You need TWO devices (e.g. laptop + smart phone, or tablet and phone, 2 phones).

Device 1: Jump onto the Twitch stream to listen to the DJ's and watch the vision mix (DJ cam, visuals, and live video from groovers on the Zoom call)

Device 2: Update Zoom to the latest version (5.4), join the Zoom call & point your camera at your dancefloor, be it kitchen, lounge, garden

2.2. Explore our Zoom Virtual Club

Getting in

When you first join the Zoom call you'll have to wait for one of our hosts to "admit" you - this may take a minute or two if we're busy, please be patient!

The Main Room (dancefloor)

When you first join the Zoom call you will join the "Main Room". This is the virtual dancefloor. It will be a bit different to a normal Zoom call: the full screen "speaker" video will be selected by us, rather than automatically switching to the person talking.

We will be showing slides and visuals in the main room and will select your video to show if you're dancing or otherwise being entertaining (please do)! Video from the main room will sometimes be included in the Twitch stream.

The Breakout Rooms (chat)

There will be several "breakout rooms" you can join (the bar, smoking area etc) that will work more like a normal Zoom call - join one of these if you want to chat. Video from the breakout rooms will not be broadcast

NOTE: you can only choose a breakout room to join if you have Zoom 5.3 or higher. Make sure you update before the stream. Update instructions

To go back to the main room from a breakout room just click "leave".

Zoom opens at 8pm: click here to join the Zoom meeting which you can also find on the the lovestream home page.

Twitch Tips

For the best quality video and audio, click the "cog" icon (bottom right) and choose "1080p - source".

You can also use the cog to select "Audio only" on the mobile app if you are listening on a poor connection or just want to listen.

If you have an Amazon Fire TV stick and a Twitch account you can add the Twitch app - works just like a mobile.

There are ways to send Twitch video from your phone to some smart TV's. We haven't really tried this but you might find this this guide to streaming Twitch to a smart TV helpful.
