Despite a slightly lower turnout than last time you groovers did us proud, keeping the dancefloor buzzing right through till 4am (that trip to the council for the late license was worth it after all!). Thanks too to all the helpers who made the load in and load out relatively painless - no falling speaker injuries this time thankfully (Damien was noticeably absent from the load in, once bitten and all that). It really makes a big difference to have all those extra hands. Thanks also to those who helped out on the door (Gail, Dick and others I’m sure), and all the sound and light crew. I hope you’ll agree it sounded clear and very loud - apologies to the backroom djs who got a bit drowned out. We need to fit some sort of acoustic curtain between the two rooms, suggestions welcome!

Sound on the videos is rather muffled I’m afraid, the mic on my camera can’t cope with the sound levels especially the sub-bass (mmm lovely sub bass).

… and here they are! Ooo blimey this one has crept up quick on me. We’ve been scurrying around like crazy things modifying and adding things to the soundsystem so it should sound even better than last time! We’ve spent some of the hard earned pennies you pay on the door for our gigs on fixing one of our old amps and buying a new mahoosive one to make the bass super wobbly.

In the house room we’ll have babble residents mono, debs, rob and damien spinning the tunes, and very excited they are about doing it too, lots of new records to seduce your dancing intentions.

The second room will be hosted again by Long Jon with his ever expanding setup, new sound there and more lights. Lobstafari will also be gracing the decks with his fishy stylings, and we’re proud to announce a return to the decks of none other than Big Al who specializes in most funksome grooves.

It all kicks off at 10pm, late license has been approved by the council so we’re good to go till 4am provided there are no last minute objections. Get down before 11pm for £4 entry, £6 after.

Public service announcement - Miss S. McLaughlin left her handbag, phone, cashcard and (naughty girl) a large bottle of vodka at the club. Call Keo’s on 0116 2622929 to get it back (although I think the manager may be away on holiday for a couple of weeks now - hopefully someone will be there to give it to you if you’ve not got it already).

We’ll be celebrating life in general but also the birthdays of good friends Chris, Dave, Gail, Becs and Jackie, so get the date in your diary - don’t miss out!

babble djs damien, rob, mono and debs will be providing the deep house grooves, along with special guest Not Will from MWD40. We’ll have a second room hosted by Long Jon, Lobstafari and Dave.

Fancy dress is encouraged on an animal theme, but is optional!

Also we have some work still to do but are hoping to be using some new bass bins which should double our trouser flapping output - another reason to come down for some lovely house vibrations.

Its only 2 quid to get in and the party runs from 11 till 4am.

Dj’s include babble’s rob forreal, debs, mono, damien and lobstafari, and from MWD40 you’ll get to hear notWill, markNotBob and KN Ben.

I think its likely we’ll be back at Keo’s again sometime soon; we know some things aren’t perfect but its a good size, the 4am license is a definite plus and the security were fantastic. We’ve got two rooms to play with, and a full line up of dj’s for both! One room will be dedicated to house music, with dj sets from damien, deb, rob and mono. The second room will feature a wider range of sounds provided by lobstafari, jamie (jammy g), davo and I’m chuffed to say we’ll also have a set from one of babble’s founders, long jon.

Jon and Jayne will also be helping us decorate the place with their fantastic backdrop collection so the place should look spanking.

Its been a few months since the last outing so get yourselves down, get your dancing pants on and lets have some fun!

A quick technical announcement: I’ve just moved the babble website to a new publishing system. Everything should look more or less as it did before. The main reason for doing this was to prevent spammers filling up our comments with crap about poker, sex pills and the like. They shouldn’t be able to do that now, but we’ll see how it goes.

Let me know if anything is broken with the new site.

Thanks to everyone who came to the Bambu party… it was great to see so many people out and a good time was had by most. It was great to have the rig chucking out the beats again! Sorry the security were so rude, they caused one or two problems and I’m not sure we’ll be going back there unless they have a change of staff. Thanks too to the Doji crew for hosting the after party - very hospitable as always! Respect to those who were generous with donations for the bucket, we didn’t quite cover the costs (basically the club hire plus printing a few flyers) but not too far off. The search continues for a decent venue.. suggestions always welcome, for clubs or outside venues.
